This program was established by American Samoa Alliance Against Domestic & Sexual Violence to eliminate immediate barriers that prevention survivors of domestic violence and their dependent children from creating spaces that are safe and stable. Through funding provided by the Family Violence Prevention & Services Administration (FVPSA), the program will work in partnership with our local domestic violence service providers and advocates to help meet the urgent needs that place survivors at continued risk or harm.
This project understand that many survivors have made difficult decisions when seeking safety. Limited financial resources, transportation challenges, housing instability, food insecurity, medical needs, and the responsibility of caring for children often prevent survivors form accessing the help they need. The Alliance seeks to provide short-term stabilization assistance through our trusted community partners. Through this project we also look to strengthen the capacity of local service providers, while helping survivors remove immediate barriers to safety, maintain stability, and connect with longer-term community resources.
The Alliance will provide assistance based on documented safety-related need, available funding and program eligibility. Requests must be submitted by participating domestic violence service providers or advocates and are reviewed using the Alliance's Survivor Assistance Review Process. Assistance will be available (based on funding and needs) for the following
1) Safe Housing & Housing Stabilization
2) Food & Household Stabilization
3) Transportation & Fuel Assistance
4) Medical Wellness Assistance and
5) Children & Family Stability.
All payments will be made directly to vendors to ensure accountability and timely support for survivors and their dependent children.
